Title: Mars Author: Fuyumi Soryo Date published: 1996-2000 Volumes: 15 Genre: romance, slice of life Personal rating: 5 out of 5
The story is about a high school girl who met an out of control delinquent at school. At first, she did not like him at all, because she thought he was simply a Playboy and a no good student. But circumstances made it so she got to know him and see his true nature, why he is the way he is. He also got to see that, despite her passive behavior, she has a lot of strong qualities and she is very expressive with art. Obviously they hook up, and you get to see how they support each other when their past comes to haunt them. They never broke up or got petty with each other despite the tribulations.
I highly recommend reading this manga BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE 16+. I warn you the contents of this manga are intense, but it really gives the slice of life feel. Yes, the manga says you can read it if you are 13+, but this is quite old and they had a different perspective of rating back then.
Speaking of old, this manga also gives a very comfortable 90s feel and even though the drawing is very gentle, it can turn heavy and dark at the very same time.
Anime? No they did not make it,  buuuut they did make a Taiwanese TV drama if you can find it. If not, y’all will have to read all 15 volumes online and make an anime in your head :P
I hope this will get some of you guys (and girls) interested.
OH I ALSMOST FORGOT!!! There is a prequel called “Mars: A horse with no name” if you want, you can read that before you get into the series…
